The residential grid squares immediately bordering the city centre. Historically built as council estates and known for having a slightly rougher reputation compared to newer areas, these offer some of the most affordable housing in MK. Great Linford is a conservation village — the original medieval settlement — surrounded by modern MK estates. Beautifully preserved with almshouses, a manor park, and lake. Neath Hill and Pennyland are the quieter modern estates alongside it.

If you want MK without the MK feel, Stony Stratford is your answer. A proper market town with independent shops, real pubs, live music and a cobbled high street. Birthplace of the "Cock and Bull story." Cycling into MK via Redways is very doable.

Some of the most popular family areas in west MK. Loughton has one of MK's most attractive village cores. Great Holm is well-established and quieter. All benefit from excellent Redway coverage — it's genuinely possible to cycle to CMK without touching a road.

East MK is the city's fastest-growing corridor. Older modern areas like Oakgrove are highly desirable. Home to Bletchley Park, this area is currently undergoing massive transformation. Thanks to Town Deal investments and the highly anticipated East West Rail line connecting Bletchley directly to Oxford, it is MK's biggest up-and-coming commuter hub. Still very affordable, but gentrifying rapidly.
