Milton Keynes Marathon Results

Whether you are aiming for a personal best, hoping to qualify for a major race, or just praying you finish before the sweeper vehicle awkwardly nudges your ankles, you are going to need a solid plan.

And if you are just coming to hold a humorous sign and watch your loved one suffer, you need a plan too.

To help you navigate the chaos, we have put together this completely unsugarcoated guide. We cover everything from finding a bed to collapse into, to exactly where to sign up.

When is the Milton Keynes Marathon 2027?

The full weekend of pain and glory runs Sunday 2 May to Monday 3 May 2027, conveniently over the early May Bank Holiday:

  • Sunday 2 May – Rocket 5k
  • Monday 3 May – Marathon, Half Marathon, Marathon Relay, and the Superhero Fun Run

Everything on the Monday kicks off around 9am and finishes at StadiumMK, home of MK Dons.

The route

The marathon takes runners on a two-lap course through Milton Keynes’ parks, lakes, redways, and boulevards. It’s mostly flat with some gentle undulation (translation: enough tiny hills to be annoying at mile 21). It’s AIMS-certified and sits in the UK’s top 10 marathons, meaning a good time here can qualify you for London, Boston, and other World Marathon Majors. That’s a genuinely big deal for a race that’s still small enough to feel personal.

The signature moment is the finish: runners come off the course and do a full lap inside StadiumMK before crossing the line on the pitch, with the stands full of supporters. It almost makes the previous three hours of chafing worth it.

What’s on offer (and how to participate)

  • Rocket 5k – Sunday, a shorter warm-up event for the weekend, usually starting outside a pub. Because nothing says peak athletic performance like 9am at Wetherspoons.
  • Marathon – 26.2 miles, the headline event.
  • Half Marathon – for those who possess at least some survival instincts.
  • Marathon Relay – split the 26.2 miles across a team. Share the glory, share the pain.
  • Superhero Fun Run – Monday morning, family-friendly and fancy dress encouraged.

Do both days and you pick up a third medal for completing the full MK Challenge.

Prices and Entry for the Milton Keynes Marathon 2027

Marathon entry is running at roughly £54-£58, with the full weekend package (including the Rocket 5k) priced up to around £180 depending on which races you combine.

Entries are already open for 2027 and spaces are capped, so this isn’t one to leave until March. You can find out more details on how to register and secure your spot on the official MK Marathon website.

Getting there and where to stay

Race HQ and the expo are based at Arena MK, with the start line nearby and the finish at StadiumMK.

If you’re travelling in for the weekend rather than running as a local, the golden rule of marathon logistics is simple: minimise the distance between your bed and the start line. When you cross that finish line, your legs will possess the structural integrity of overcooked spaghetti. You will not want to walk a mile to your room. You will want to be carried.

Since being carried by strangers is generally frowned upon, booking the right accommodation is critical. Hotels near the start fill up fast on race weekend – so check out our guide on Where to Stay in Milton Keynes and book early if you want to be within walking distance on Monday morning.

Why it’s worth the hype

Milton Keynes doesn’t always get credit for its running scene, but this event punches well above its weight. A stadium finish, a genuinely fast and scenic course, and Boston/London qualifying potential make it a serious pick for anyone training seriously. Meanwhile, the 5k, relay, and fun run options mean there’s something for people who just want to be part of the weekend without doing 26.2 miles.

Whether you’re chasing a PB or just fancy a good excuse for a weekend out, the Milton Keynes Marathon 2027 is one to put in the diary. Just remember to double-knot your laces and apply Vaseline to places you didn’t know needed Vaseline. Good luck out there.
