Campbell Park contains over 20 permanent public art installations you can visit for free. A guide to MK’s most underappreciated outdoor gallery.
Campbell Park in the heart of Milton Keynes contains over 20 permanent public art installations — all free to visit, all outdoors, all year round. It’s one of the most significant collections of public art in the East of England and most MK residents have barely scratched the surface of what’s there.
About Campbell Park
Campbell Park is MK’s central park — 650 acres of open parkland, formal gardens, woodland and lake that runs through the heart of the city from the grid roads down to the Grand Union Canal. It was designed as the green lungs of central MK and is the venue for many of the city’s biggest outdoor events.
The Art Installations
Scattered throughout the park are sculptures, installations and artworks by both established and emerging artists. Some are immediately striking; others reveal themselves only when you stumble upon them on a walk. The collection includes large-scale bronze sculptures, abstract steel pieces, land art and interactive installations.
The Largest Artwork
The most striking installation is the Campbell Park Belvedere — a large viewing platform and artwork on the hilltop that offers panoramic views across the city and beyond. On a clear day you can see for miles in every direction.
Walking the full art trail takes about two hours and is one of the best free things to do in MK. See our Free Things To Do guide for more ideas.
